Grade a student early from the kiosk​

The kiosk only ever offered a Grade button once a student had met every requirement: enough classes, enough time at their rank, old enough. If you promote someone ahead of that, and plenty of coaches do, no button appeared and there was nothing to tap. Now they get one anyway. Those students get an amber Grade early button on their card during a live class, listing what they have not met yet, with a confirmation before it goes through, and the promotion is marked as early in their grading history so you can always see which ones waived a requirement.

"Since last grading" now counts from the right day​

A student who had just been graded showed 1 class at their new rank instead of 0, because the class they were promoted at was being counted toward the next stripe rather than the one they had just earned. Stripes are awarded at the end of the class, so that class belongs to the rank they have just left, and counting now starts the day after a grading instead. That part is fixed now. If a number looked one too high after a promotion, that was why.

Promoting from the student edit form now records a grading​

Changing a student's belt or stripes on their edit page used to change the rank without recording a grading, so their "Since last grading" count carried on from before. Not anymore, either. It now writes a proper promotion record, the same as grading from the kiosk or the grading screen, and the count resets, though if you have been promoting people this way, everything you have already done stays as it is; only promotions from here on are affected.

Ask anyone to opt in to text messages​

Text campaigns could only reach people who had ticked the SMS box at their very first login, which for most gyms meant almost nobody. That has now changed. Students and instructors can turn text messages on or off themselves from their own settings, and you can also send an opt-in request to anyone (a student without a portal login, a parent, an instructor) as a single-use link that expires after seven days. They tick the box themselves, and you get a notification when they do.

GRADR installs on a phone as an app​

Owners and students can now add GRADR to a phone's home screen and open it like a normal app, full screen, without the browser bar. There are two separate apps: yours opens on your dashboard, your students' opens on theirs. A short guide with the steps for iPhone and Android lives at gradrjj.com/install-app, and new accounts get it in their welcome email.

Small fixes​

• New gyms now start with a template curriculum already in place instead of an empty one.
• The roster's two class columns are now labelled Total classes and Since last grading, which several owners had read as one broken counter.
• A student checking in at the kiosk appears on the roster straight away, and the welcome card can be tapped away.
• Classes you enter after the fact now count on the day the class was actually held, not the day you typed it in.
• The kiosk close flow is one tap, and the PIN is now only asked for when leaving the kiosk for the dashboard.
