Creating a Curriculum Block

Build a rotating curriculum block and assign it to a class so your students always know what position they're working on this week. By the end, a block will be live on one of your classes with content mapping automatically to each week.

Prerequisites​

Step 1: Create Your Areas​

Areas are the positional categories your block rotates through — Guard, Side Control, Mount, Back, etc.

  1. Go to Curriculum → Areas.
  2. Click Add Area, then Add Custom Area.
  3. Enter the area name, an optional description, and pick a color (required — it sets the card's accent). Add a thumbnail image if you like.
  4. Save the area, and repeat for each position you want in the rotation.

In a hurry? Click Load Default Areas instead to seed GRADR's standard set in one click.

Step 2: Add Systems to Each Area (Optional)​

Systems are the specific technique sequences within an area — for example, a De La Riva entry series within Guard.

  1. Go to Curriculum → Systems.
  2. Click Create System.
  3. Enter the name and select the area it belongs to (there's no description on this screen), then click Create System.
  4. Build out the detail in the System's editor.

Step 3: Create the Block​

  1. Go to Curriculum → Blocks.
  2. Click Create Block.
  3. Enter a block name (e.g. "Q3 Adult Gi Rotation") and click Create Draft Block. GRADR opens the block editor.
  4. In the editor, click + Add Area to add each area in the order you want it to cycle, and set the number of weeks per area.

Step 4: Assign a Class and Activate​

Still in the block editor:

  1. Under Class Assignments, tick the class (or classes — a block can run on more than one) that should follow this block, then click Save Class Assignments.
  2. Click Activate Block and confirm with Activate.

The block is now live. The Schedule shows which area is current for each assigned class, based on the activation point and rotation length.

Step 5: Verify on the Schedule​

  1. Go to Schedule and switch to Week View.
  2. Find the class you assigned the block to.

The current week's area appears as a badge on the class tile. Navigate forward and back through weeks to confirm the rotation looks right.
